Field Trips to Downtown Fredericksburg with you class.
Field Trip #1 - Transportation Pre-1900's.
Bring your class to down town Fredericksburg and take a 30 min ride with the children. The subject of discussion will be transporation of the olden days, focusing on how difficult it was for people to travel in colonial and antibellium years. What types of transportation were most widely used in Fredericksburg. We will also talk about the carriage itself; how many tradesmen it took to build a carriage and harness. We can also talk about the types of the horses used during that period and care for them.
Field Trip #2 - George Washington - Growing Up in Fredericksburg.
Bring your class down town and take a 30 min historical tour in our carriages through down town Fredericksburg. We will talk about George Washington's friends and life in Fredericksburg.
This is appropriate from pre-schoolers to elementry children.
Cost is $5.00 per child and we can take 15 children at a time.
On Location Field Trips
Fritz and the Beatiful Horses - We will read a wonderful story about being different and acceptance. The children then will meet Fritz the pony. We will show the children how to harness and hitch Fritz to the wagon. Each child will be able to ride in the wagon.
Appropriate for pre-schoolers to school age children.
Pinkalicius School Rules - We will read about Pinkalicious bringing her imaginary unicorn, Goldie, to school and how they need to obey school rules. We will bring our Unicorn with us for the story. We will show the children how to harness a Unicorn to the wagon. Each child will be able to ride in the wagon
Appropriate for pre-schoolers to school age children.
PaintedPony - The children will be allowed to paint a real Indian Pony with the symbols the American Indians used when they hunted and went to war. Each child will get a handout of the symbols and we will discuss what they meant to the Indians. After we finish painting the Pony will harness up and each child will be able to ride in the wagon.
Appropriate for pre-schoolers to school age children.
Learn the ABCs with Tony the Pony - In a fun way we will learn the ABCs using pictures of objects and the pony, including the harness and wagon which will be brought to give the kids a ride.
Example:
A - is for Apple, which every pony loves.
B - is for Bridle, which is used to control the pony.
C - is for Canter, which is when a pony runs around in delight.
D - is for Driving, that is what we do with the pony to the cart.
Appropriate for pre-schoolers.
Horse Language - With the aid of the book, "Why do Horses Neigh" we will talk about body language, not just horses but kids too. Afterwards, of course, we let the kids ride in the wagon.
Appropriate for pre-schoolers and school age children.
Cost for on location field trips are $150.00 for the first hour and $50.00 for every hour after. It is up to the school to decide the cost per child.
